| Thank you for your business! Now that you've got your plants, what next? Although some of our trees and plants come planted in pot, most of them come disassembled for easier shipping, so you are still one step away from truly indulging yourself in the long-lasting tropical paradise! Here are some basic steps you can use to give your trees, plants and flowers a breath-taking look, most importantly, it's your own creative touch that makes them look the best to you. | | Potting: | Potting for trees or plants that come with non-decorative pot: Materials Needed: Decorative pot of your choice, moss or decorative rocks (preferably river bed rocks that are mid sized, with somewhat rounded edges). - Measure the diameter of the grow pot that comes with the tree and buy some decorative rocks or moss that suit you personally, an ideal decorative pot is one that's pretty to you and big enough to fit the grow pot in.
- Set the tree in the decorative pot and fill with the decorative rocks or moss as you like. Play around with the rocks or moss to make them look natural.
Potting for trees or plants that come without pot: Materials Needed: Decorative pot of your choice, moss or decorative rocks (small to mid sized that look good to you for decorative purpose), floral foam or plaster (please use plaster for large trees that need a heavier base to hold steady the tree trunk), Paper Mache or non-decorative plastic container. - If you choose to use floral foam, simply push the tree trunk or plant stem deep into the foam, making sure it's set straight.
- If you prefer to use plaster, pour in the right amount of plaster* and water into your Paper Mache or non-decorative plastic container, mix accordingly to the manufacture instruction, keep stirring until the mixture starts to thicken. Set the tree trunk or plant stem straight up into the thickened mixture. Hold steady for a few minutes or until the mixture thicken enough to hold and support the trunk or stem.
- Set the tree/plant with the floral foam. If using plaster, set the tree/plant with the plaster filled Paper Mache or non-decorative plastic container in the decorative pot, and fill in the decorative rocks or moss as you like. Play around with the rocks or moss to make them look natural.
*It's advised to mix the plaster outside in a well ventilated area to avoid contact with the plaster dust. | | | | Assembly: | Some of our trees and plants need some basic assembly. Most trees come with fronds, and a trunk with frond openings that appear to be little holes on the trunk. Assembly is as easy as popping the fronds into the holes. Trees or plants may size differently depending on how you assemble the fronds and trunk. It's always a good idea to look at our original photos shown in item listing. | | | | Shaping: | Shaping your trees and plants is like creating an art piece, so do it with passion. It's a common way to start shaping the plants from bottom fronds to top. Gently bend the fronds and leaves in a slight downward curve, work it all the way to the top in a dimensional direction to achieve a fuller look of your plants. Avoid bending the frond in a sharp angle to make the plants look natural. When you think you are done with the shaping, step backward to take look at the whole plant: Are the leaves on both side of the plant positioned evenly? Are they shaped in a similar curve? Do you see any empty spot on the plant? Does it look full? Go back and fix anything that you don't like. There is no right or wrong about way of shaping your plants, it's what you love that matters. | |
